Wavefront Centre exists to reduce communications barriers by providing access and inclusion for the deaf and the hard of hearing: the only centre of its kind in Western Canada. MJM Acoustics began working with Grace Shyng, Head of Audiology, about 2 years before construction on sound room sizes and designs. As Conwest turned the building over to Fusion Projects for tenant build out, MJM Acoustics was pivotal in planning and advising on the completed design to integrate test suites into the facility, while maintaining required isolation. Our installation included craning components to upper floors. This required co-ordination with the city of Vancouver for road closure, the craning company, and Fusion Projects, to ensure safe and timely lifting of project components. Once installation was completed, MJM Acoustics oversaw sound level certification completion. We are proud to have been involved in this high-profile project, and the long term benefit to clients Wavefront Centre offers.

The proper functioning of a sound room's ventilation system is critical for patient and user comfort. MJM Acoustics has knowledge of all manufacture make designs, we can correct or service any system. We recently worked with Vancouver Island Health Authority clinics in Nanaimo and Courtenay, BC to address air control concerns in the booths.
" We are a pediatric clinic we often have multiple people in the sound booth – a child, an audiometric technician, one or more parents. It can get very stuffy and uncomfortably warm, especially with an active or upset child. We had Mike come to ‘service’ the fans. He discovered, much to our shock, that there were no fans and that the building air system was connected to the booth outake instead of intake. Since he corrected this, we have noted a huge improvement in the air quality and temperature comfort in the booth. This is especially important during COVID when it is ideal to have air exchanges in the booth between different clients. All the cleaning we can do doesn’t replace having effective air flow. Mike consulted appropriately to ensure he followed applicable infection and air controls, setting up a containment area during the work. He was fast and left no trace – other than fresh air! Thank you Mike."
